EGYPTIAN modern pentathlete Heidi Adel captured the silver medal in the women's individual event at the UIPM 2015 Youth A World Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ghada Abdel-Kader reports. In the event, held from 31 August to 7 September, Adel finished second with 1,061 points – 239 in fencing, 267 in swimming and 555 in combined events. Only four points separated Adel from Turkish Ilke Ozyuksel who won first place with 1,065 points – 196 in fencing, 284 in swimming and 585 in combined events.
Hungarian Anna Toth ended in third place with 1,053 points – 250 in fencing, 289 in swimming and 514 in combined events. Egyptian Salma Abdel-Maksoud finished in 10th place with 996 points and Mariam Amer in 17th place with 967 points.
In the women's team event, Russian team members Ekaterina Utina, Adelina Ibatullina and Xeina Fralcova won gold with 3,056 points while the Hungarian team of Sarolta Simon, Alexandra Boros and Toth captured a silver with 3,055 points. Egypt's Adel Abdel-Maksoud and Sondous Tarek took the bronze with 2,993 points.
In the men's individual final, Sherif Rashad ended in fifth place with 1,180 points.
In the men's team relay, the Egyptians Ahmed Shahin and Sherif Rashad took a bronze and third place with 1,253 points – 243 in fencing, 353 in swimming and 657 in combined events.
In the mixed relay, Ahmed Hamed and Abdel-Maksoud captured gold and first place with 1,198 points – 256 in fencing, 337 in swimming and 605 in combined events.
