The five-day event has attracted the so-called complete athlete from 29 countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, England, Guatemala, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, the US and the host nation Egypt. The athletes include 88 men and 80 women, plus 77 officials. Egypt will be taking part with 12 male and 12 female athletes, including Olympians Amr and Omar Al-Geziri, Yasser Hefni, Islam Hamed, Heidi Adel and Sondos Tarek. Amr Al-Geziri is Egypt's best in the sport, winning a silver medal in 2014 and fourth place at the World Cup 1 in Sarasota, Florida, last month. The athletes are competing in five sports: fencing, swimming, equestrian and the combined event which comprises shooting and running. In the semi-finals, the athletes will be divided into three groups from which the top 36 from the men's and women's will qualify for the finals on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the Mixed Relay Event will mark the end of World Cup 2 which is being held under the auspices of both the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Tourism. In preparation for World Cup 2, two teams from South and Latin America, Guatemala and Mexico, have been training in Egypt with the Egyptian team for the past two weeks as they get ready for the second event of the year.
