Noura Mint Seymali started her career at the age of 13 as a backing vocalist with Dimi Mint Abbas. She formed an ensemble that uses traditional instruments at its core: harp, lute, and bowl drum with Western bass and drum-set. Arranging for a contemporary ensemble, Noura has united her traditional Mauritanian music with sounds from outside—reggae, blues, hip hop, zouk. Noura debuted internationally at events like Festivalau-Desert (Mali), Festival Pirineos (Spain), and Festival Timitar (Morocco). Noura's songs address such prescient topics as the role of women in Islamic society, desertification, economic development, and terrorism in the Magreb, she also presents love songs, devotional hymns of praise, and historical folk narratives. Thur 25, 9pm: Nawel Ben Kraiem (Tunisia). After growing up between France and Tunisia, Nawel Ben Kraiem started to perform as a singer in Paris within Cirrus group. In 2009 she released her first album "Mama Please" and was rewarded by the Monte Carlo International Radio price (RFI). After an international tour with orange blossomshe decided to go on her own project. This project made use of her voice and many musical influences (pop, world, electronic music), a mix of different languages (Arabic, French and English) and original rhythms. Nawel has also worked with the director Tony Gatlif, singing and acting in one of his movies. She is now working on her first album.
