Ahly coach asks players to salvage group lead Ahly coach praised his players for their victory over El-Entag El-Harby in the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday
Ahly coach Mohamed Youssef believed that his team's victory over El-Entag El-Harby on the twelfth matchday of the Egyptian Premier League is very important for the team and the players, as the games' points will help the team to continue winning in the coming games. Titleholders Ahly came back from behind to beat a 10-man El-Entag El-Harby 3-1, with summer-signing Moussa Yedan scoring a goal and setting up another in the game on Thursday. Striker Amr Gamal cancelled out Entag forward Bassem Morsy's surprise sixth-minute opener four minutes from the half-hour mark before Burkina Faso's Yedan marked his full debut with a magnificent volley to put his side in front. Yedan then turned from scorer to provider 12 minutes from time, teeing up substitute El-Sayed Hamdy for Ahly's third goal of the night. "Burkinabe Yedan is the most significant point in the game, as he proved that he is a talented player who can affect the game result," Youssef was quoted as saying after the game. "Today's performance will give Yedan the self-confidence to continue helping the team," he added. Ahly recently dodoged a potentially embarrassing exit in the CAF Champions League round of 32 in Alexandria on Sunday, beating Tanzanian side Young Africans 4-3 on penalties. "After reaching the CAF Champions League round of 16, I asked the players to continue winning in the Egyptian league to get to the top of Group A again," Youssef said. Despite the win, the African champions still remain fourth in Group A with 19 points, six points adrift of surprise leaders Smouha. "We decided to stop thinking about the El-Entag El-Harby game in order to concentrate on the Dakhlya clash on Monday, as the points of that game will affect our position in the group," Ahly's tactician concluded.
