Egypt's Elmohamady looks forward to playing 'strong' friendlies
Winger Ahmed Elmohamady says Egypt used to play 'poor friendly games' under former coach Bob Bradley
Published in Ahram Online on 25 - 02 - 2014

Ahmed Elmohamady said on Tuesday he is looking forward to Egypt's upcoming friendly games, praising coach Shawky Gharib for arranging "strong matches" following the departure of Bob Bradley.
Winger Elmohamady, who is a key player of English Premier League side Hull City, had his relationship with Bradley strained towards the end of the American's tenure after he was left out of Egypt's squad for a World Cup qualifying playoff against Ghana.
He missed Egypt's 2-1 second-leg victory at home to Ghana, which was a mere consolation after the Pharaohs were hammered 6-1 in Kumasi.
Egypt will face Bosnia on 5 March before taking on Chile in May.
"Playing with a strong sides from Europe and South America is very useful for many reasons as the new coach is preparing a new generation for the national team," Elmohamady said on his official website.
"I'm very delighted that Shawky Gharib has been appointed as the new coach for the national team, he has a very good experience of forming solid and promising teams.
"During Bradley's era, we were playing poor friendlies which were not useful for us at the end when we faced a strong side like Ghana.
"Although Shawky has just taken over the team, but he had the courage to arrange strong friendlies like Bosnia and Chile," he added.
