Ahly to host Zamlek in June in Cairo derby The Cairo derby between Ahly and Zamalek will be played on 29 June, The Egyptian Football Association's competition committee announced
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has released the schedule of the remaining league rounds Wednesday, one day after deciding to resume the competition despite security concerns. The EFA was given the green light to resume the premier domestic competition on 13 April despite last weekend's pitch invasion and violence which forced the cancellation of an African Champions League clash between Zamalek and Tunisia's Club Africain. Defending champions Ahly will face arch-rivals Zamalek, who top the league, on 29 June, EFA competition committee head Amer Hussein revealed. The reverse fixture ended in a goalless draw in December. Hussein also said the league will be stopped after the 23rd day, which will be played on 25 and 26 May, to give the Egyptian national team sufficient time to prepare for a crucial African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa on 3 June. There will be also delays for Ahly and Harras El-Hodoud due to their participation in the African Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively. The league will end on 11 July.
