Shikabala's time at Zamalek could be drawing to an end As European clubs gather around Mahmoud Abdel-Razik 'Shikabala', it is becoming more doubtful that he will stay at Zamalek
Zamalek's board have revealed that they may sanction allowing the club's star Mahmoud Abdel-Razik “Shikabala” leave should it receive a satisfactory bid. On the contrary, Zamalek president, Galal Ibrahim, confirmed that the club will not discuss any offers until they extend the player's contract revealing that the coaching staff have convinced him the play to extend his stay with the White Knights. “I hope that Shikabala does like Mido and commits to his club in this critical time without thinking about the financial [details],” Ibrahim told the club's official website. The Egyptian giants are facing a financial crisis after losing their main source of funding after former president Mamduh Abbas, who provided major financial backing to the club, was forced to step down. Ahmed “Mido” Hossam returned to his boyhood club after a long European journey before the financial issues hit. He has since stated that he will play for Zamalek for free. Ibrahim has rubbished reports linking the talented playmaker Shikabala with a move to the Belgian duo Standard Liege and R.S.C. Anderlecht, asserting that Spanish side Espanyol is the only club to have as yet officially enquired about his services. Their offer was rejected. “French club Nantes are eyeing Shikabala and they will officially launch their bid soon,” Shikabala's agent, Samir Abdel-Tawab, was quoted as saying on the Al-Ahram Arabic portal. Zamalek are top of the Egyptian Premier League which will be resumed next Wednesday after a three-month forced break due to the country's unrest.
