Egypt's state-run children's council mourns boy killed in clashes
National Council for Childhood and Motherhood says that the death of a 12-year-old bystander in Minya during clashes should be investigated

The state-run National Council for Childhood and Motherhood said it was “mourning the loss” of a child slain in clashes on Friday between security forces and supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi.
"The council… mourns the child of Samalut, the martyr who died as a victim of birdshot while on the balcony of his home in Minya," a statement published by the council on Saturday read.
A 12-year-old boy was killed in the city of Samalut in Minya governorate in Upper Egypt during clashes on Friday.
According to security sources, the boy was shot dead by birdshot while he was watching the clashes from his balcony.
Another person was killed in Damietta on the same day.
The council's secretary-general, Azza El-Ashmawy, said that the body has filed a complaint with the prosecutor-general demanding the culprits in the boy's death are held accountable.
The council will contact the victim's family, El-Ashmawy said, and will provide them with a lawyer.
El-Ashmawy condemned what she claimed to be the usage of street children at Muslim Brotherhood protests.
