Zamalek coach Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam says he needs one million Egyptian pounds to build a team capable of competing for titles. Mido was named Zamalek coach in early February after Helmi Toulan was dismissed due to poor results. Under the former Tottenham, AS Roma and Marseille striker, the Whites have won three matches (one in the CAF Champions league) and drawn one. "I just need one million pounds to build a strong team able to compete for all titles in the coming seasons," Mido said in a TV statement late on Monday. "This sum is sufficient to buy the best under 16 year olds who will be the club's future. "In the coming matches, we will depend on new starlets aged between 17 and 19 years old," added Mido, who will turn 31 on 23 February. Egypt Cup holders Zamalek have been suffering from a severe financial crisis that saw the players not paid for several months. Playmaker Mahmoud Abdel-Razek 'Shikabala' and striker Ahmed Eid Abdel-Malek have left the club lately for financial reasons. Zamalek are third in Premier League Group B with 13 points, four behind leaders Petrojet who have played an additional game. The Whites claimed an easy 2-0 win at home to Niger's AS Douanes to take a first-leg advantage in the African Champions League preliminary round on Sunday. The return leg will be played in Niger next week.
