Yaya Toure named African player of the year 2013
The Ivorian midfielder won the most prestigious individual prize for the third straight time

Ivory Coast and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has been named African Player of the Year 2013 on Thursday during the Glo-CAF awards ceremony held in Lagos, Nigeria.
Toure beat teammate Didier Drogba and Nigeria's John Obi Mikel.
The 30-year old midfielder hat-trick of wins, emulating Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o who won the title in 2003, 2004 and 2005 (He also won a fourth-record award in 2010).
"To be the winner today is unbelievable," Toure said. "I am very happy and very, very proud."
Toure, 31 in May, may not have won a major trophy for club and country last year but his class has shone through at both domestic level and for the Elephants of Ivory Coast.
He scored 10 goals for Manchester City so far this season putting them just behind leaders Arsenal and helped Ivory Coast book a third straight World Cup ticket. (Read: Yaya Toure's year in numbers)
