Liverpool prepare £12 million bid for Salah, Basel's 'Egyptian Messi'
Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers flew to Germany to watch Salah in action against Schalke, while Basel want around £15 million for their prized asset

Liverpool are set to make a £12 million offer for Egypt and Basel striker Mohamed Salah in the winter transfer window, the Daily Mail revealed on Friday.
According to the English newspaper, Liverpool have been trailing the Egyptian for over six months, while their coach Brendan Rodgers flew to Germany on Wednesday to watch Salah in action for his club against Schalke in the Champions League.
Basel were eliminated from the prestigious tournament after a 2-0 loss to the German club, and will turn to play in the Europa League.
The news about Liverpool's interest comes after the recent reports that the player's agent was spotted at Anfield to discuss the player's move to Liverpool in January.
Recent reports in the British media suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are also lining up a January bid for Salah, who has been consistently praised for his pace and trickery down the flanks.
Other European sides like Galatasaray and Monaco are also reportedly interested in signing the Pharaohs star, who has been on impressive form lately.
“Basel are now ready to sell their prized asset and want around £15 million for a player who has been dubbed 'the Egyptian Messi' following his goals return of 17 in 26 internationals," the Daily Mail wrote.
Salah's Basel success story
Since joining Basel last season from Egypt's Arab Contractors, Salah has quickly established himself as one of the team's key elements at both the domestic and continental levels, scoring nine goals in all competitions.
Salah, who won the CAF Most Promising African Talent of the Year award in 2012, helped Basel to win the Swiss league title last season and finish as runners-up in the Swiss Cup.
He scored twice for Basel in both UEFA Europa league, where the team reached the semifinal, and the UEFA Champions League last season.
His dazzling performance with the Swiss club last season earned him the 2013 Swiss Golden Player Award earlier this month.
The 21-year-old attacker has scored ten goals for Basel in all competitions so far this season, including the only goal in Basel's 1-0 victory over Jose Mourinho's Chelsea at the Champions League.
