Egypt and Al-Salmiya of Kuwait striker Amr Zaki has denied all reports linking him with a January move to Ahly, his former club Zamalek's archrivals. "No officials from Ahly have contacted me," the 30 year-old player told an Egyptian sports TV program Sunday. "I'm not thinking of playing in Egypt at the moment. I'm committed to my current club. Even if I were considering leaving in January, I would prefer to play in Europe or the Gulf." The former Wigan, Hull City forward demonstrated remarkable presence on the pitch with the Pharaohs on 19 November in the World Cup playoff. He maintained constant pressure on Ghana's defence during the home game, which Egypt won 2-1. "If I were to return to Egypt, I would only play for my home club Zamalek; I will be there for my home whenever they need me," Zaki concluded. Zaki made his debut with Egypt's senior football team in 2004, helping them to win the African Nations Cup in 2006 and 2008. Zaki was released by Elazigspor last January after failing to make an impact during his six-month spell in the Turkish league.
