China's Guangzhou anticipating 'hard test' against Egypt's Ahly Guangzhou Evergrande's Brazilian forward Muriqui says Ahly are a world class team ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup meeting
Asian champions Guangzhou Evergrande are aware it will not be easy to beat African Champions League winners Ahly in next month's Club World Cup opener, Brazilian forward Muriqui said on Friday. Egypt's Ahly will make a fifth Club World Cup appearance after winning a record-extending eighth Champions League title following a 3-1 aggregate victory over South Africa's Orlando Pirates. Guangzhou, who are coached by Italian 2006 World Cup winning boss Marcello Lippi, won their maiden AFC Champions League title at the expense of South Korea's Kashiwa Reysol. Muriqui was the tournament's top scorer with 13 goals, a record-breaking tally. "The first game (against Al Ahly) will be a hard test and we should strive to win. We represent China and Asia, so we will spare nothing to get a good result," Muriqui told FIFA.com. The winners of Ahly-Guangzhou clash will face European champions Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup semi-final in Morocco. "These are world-class teams but we will take our game to them," Muriqui added.
