Hayatou to attend African Champions League final Sunday African football chief Hayatou arrived in Cairo Saturday ahead of Ahly's Orlando Pirates clash Sunday in the African Champions League final — a game open to fans
The president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Issa Hayatou, arrived in Cairo Saturday ahead of the African Champions League final between Ahly and Orlando Pirates Sunday night. The Cameroonian official will head a CAF delegation that includes technical committee member Mohamed Raouraoua from Algeria and secretary general Hicham El-Amrani from Morocco. Ahly have also invited several Egyptian officials, including Egyptian Football Association head Gamal Allam, FIFA Executive Member Hani Abou-Reida, Minister of Sports Taher Abou-Zeid and several figures from the Egyptian government. The game is set to be played in Arab Contractors' stadium in Cairo at 18:00 Cairo time (GMT+2) Sunday. Security authorities agreed to fans attendance, and the stadium is set to be packed by 30,000 supporters. Egyptian teams have been playing games behind closed-doors since the Port Said disaster in February 2012 that left more than 70 dead and hundreds injured following riots after a Masri-Ahly league game. The Red Devils are favorites to win an eighth title after claiming a 1-1 away draw in Johannesburg last week.
