Ahly goalkeeper Ekramy ready for Orlando clash Scans revealed that Pharaohs star keeper Sherif Ekramy will be ready for Ahly's trip to South Africa for the African Champions League final
Ahly goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy is fit for the anticipated clash against South Africa's Orlando Pirates in the first leg of the African Champions League final 2 November. The 30-year-old guard was doubtful for the match as he has been suffering from a muscular injury picked up during Egypt's clash against Ghana in the World Cup qualifiers 15 October. "Ekramy has undergone medical scans that revealed he will be ready for the Orlando match," Ahly said in a statement on its official website Saturday. "The player will be rested in Sunday's friendly against Dakhlya, but will be available for the training sessions Monday," the statement added. Title holders Ahly will host the South African team at an army-owned stadium in Cairo in the second leg of the African Champions League final 10 November. The Cairo giants are seeking a record-extending eighth Champions League title win, while Orlando are eyeing their second trophy in Africa's elite club competition, which they won in 1995. Both sides clashed in the group stage, with Ahly losing 3-0 in Gouna and drawing 0-0 in Johannesburg.
