Former major-general of the armed forces Hassan El-Roweiny is to testify at the third closed session in the Mubarak retrial on Monday. Head of the Investigation Unit at Minya prison during the 25 January 18-day uprising, Omar El-Dardiry, will also give testimony. Mubarak-era Prime Minister Atef Ebeid, former director of intelligence Mourad Mowafi, former interior minister Ahmed Gamal El-Din and current Petroleum Minister Sherif Ismail had testified in the two earlier sessions. The three sessions were not aired publicly for national security reasons. The 85 year-old deposed president and El-Adly both received life sentences in June 2012 on charges of political responsibility for the killing of peaceful protesters during the January 2011 uprising that led to Mubarak's ouster. Mubarak also faces charges of squandering public funds by selling natural gas to Israel at below market prices. Earlier verdicts were overturned in January 2013 by an appeals court on the grounds of procedural improprieties. Mubarak's first trial began in August 2011. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/84399.aspx
