Egypt's health ministry announced on Friday afternoon that one pro-Morsi protester has been killed in clashes between supporters and opponents of the deposed president in Manial in central Cairo. Ministry spokesman Mohamed Khatib told Ahram Online that another 17 people were injured in the clashes. Violence erupted between Morsi loyalists and local residents in Manial after security forces fired teargas at pro-Morsi protesters heading to Tahrir Square, forcing them to retreat to Manial via Qasr Al-Aini Street. On Friday,Morsi supporters staged demonstrations in Cairo and across the country as part of their calls for continuous rallies in the lead up to Sunday, a national holiday celebrating the 1973 war against Israel. Manial witnessed deadly clashes in July between residents of the area and supporters of Mohamed Morsi who was removed from the presidency on 3 July. Twelve people were killed in the incident, which took place on 6 July. Locals accused Morsi supporters of starting the clashes and using automatic firearms against them. Residents also accused the police of failing to protect them. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/83217.aspx
