Ivory Coast's Kalou wary of Senegal clash Ivory Coast star believes playing Senegal will be even more difficult when the two sides face-off in final phase of 2014 World Cup qualifiers
Ivory Coast forward Salomon Kalou revealed that he fears facing Senegal in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers playoff as they are a menacing foe. The Elephants will host Senegal in the first leg of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers on 11 October in Abidjan. "It is going to be a tough and crucial match," Kalou was quoted as saying on Supersport. "Don't forget that Senegal gave us a lot of headache in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. I can even say they appear to be stronger now," he added. Lille's striker Kalou is expected to be in the Ivory Coast squad's final list for the Teranga Lions showdown as he has been a regular team player for over five years. "If there is a team I'm really scared of on the continent, it is Senegal "It's true we defeated them at home last year (4-2), but I feel it will be more difficult this time because it's the final step to reaching the 2014 World Cup and they will not be coming easy for us," the striker concluded. Senegal have chosen Morocco's Casablanca as the venue for their home tie against Ivory Coast in the second leg of the playoffs. They are banned from using their home turf in Dakar after rioting occurred last year following the Ivory Coast victory in the African Nations Cup qualifiers, forcing Senegal to seek a neutral alternative.
