Ahly's Meteb could be fit for Champions League semifinal Pharaohs star Emad Meteb is back at training three months after undergoing back surgery and could be ready for Ahly's match with Coton Sport on 6 October
Emad Meteb could be fit for Ahly's Champions League semifinal clash with Cameroon's Coton Sport on 6 October, assistant coach Ahmed Ayoub has said. The Pharaohs striker has been out of action for around three months after undergoing surgery on a back injury that has blighted his career in recent years. "Meteb is getting better quickly and is ready to return to action. He will be available for Thursday's training session," Ahly assistant coach Ahmed Ayoub said on Tuesday. "The player will be a great addition for the team in the Champions League semis. Head coach Mohamed Youssef is the one to decide his role against Coton Sport," he added. The Cameroonians will host Ahly in the first leg in Garoua on 6 October, while the second leg will be played in Egypt on 20 October. Ahly won their group to qualify for the semifinal. Coton Sport qualified after finishing second in Group B with eight points, seven behind Esperance de Tunis. Ahly, seven-times winners of the trophy, defeated the Cameroonians in the 2008 final.
