Said leaves camp as financial issues hit Zamalek again Zamalek players' unpaid salaries threaten again as defender Hani Said protests by abandoning training ahead of crucial derby with Ahly
Zamalek defender Hani Said left the team's preoperational camp ahead of Sunday's African clash against rivals Ahly in the CAF Champions League. According to Ahram Sports, the player refused to commit to trainings with the team until he receives his unpaid salaries. This is not the first time that the Whites' players complain of not receiving their benefits. Big names like midfielder Ahmed Hassan and keeper Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed are among others who stirred the matter earlier and the club's president, businessman Mamdouh Abbas, interfered promising to solve the issue. The timing of the problem is critical for the Cairo-based club as, competing for their qualification to the semis, they need to focus on the field. Group A is still wide open after four rounds as Ahly are level with South Africa's Orlando Pirates with seven points, three ahead of Congo's AC Leopards and Zamalek. The Ahly v Zamalek match will be held behind closed doors at Al-Gouna Stadium in Hurghada, 430km from the capital, due to security concerns, though neither team attributes any importance to the location of the match.
