CAF threaten to deny Egypt's Ahly home advantage for fans trouble Ahly hit by a fine and two match behind closed doors as a punishment for fans troubles in African Champions League
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) hit Ahly with a 30-thousand-dollar fine and two matches behind closed doors for fans' troubles. On 31 August, Ahly supporters clashed with each other during Congo's Leopards game, in Gouna stadium in Hurghada, in the fourth round of the group stage of the CAF Champions League. The Confederation also warned the Cairo-based club that they will have to play home games outside Egypt in case similar behavior reoccurs. Egypt already forces clubs to play their home games behind closed doors due to security concerns allowing fans attendance with limited number on occasion. Ahly, who have seven points after four rounds, will play arch-rivals Zamalek on 15 September in an attempt to secure their passage to the semi-finals of Africa's elite competition. They are level with South Africa's Orlando Pirates with seven points at the top of Group A, three ahead of Congo's AC Leopards and Zamalek, who both have four points each.
