An Egyptian policeman was shot dead and another injured in a drive-by shooting at a checkpoint in the city of Aswan Wednesday at dawn, Egypt's Interior Ministry said.
Two gunmen in a private car opened fire at security forces in a bid to escape a highway checkpoint near the Shatb village on the outskirts of Aswan.
In the exchange of gunfire that ensued, one of the assailants was killed and the other wounded.
