5 suspected Islamic militants arrested in northern Sinai
Egyptian army captures 5 men allegedly linked to jihadist groups accused of attacks in Sinai Peninsula, state news agency reported

Five alleged Islamic militants have been arrested in Sheikh Zoweid, North Sinai, in a joint operation between the Egyptian army and border guards, state news agency MENA reported on Sunday.
The men allegedly belong to groups accused of carrying out recent attacks on security checkpoints and facilities in the peninsula.
Egyptian security forces have killed 78 suspected jihadists, including 32 foreigners, in recent operations in Sinai, military spokesperson Ahmed Ali said on Friday.
Ali added that 203 people, including 48 foreigners, had been arrested for their alleged involvement in attacks on security checkpoints in the peninsula.
The announcement was made after at least 25 Egyptian policemen were killed on 19 August when suspected militants ambushed a personnel carrier near Rafah.
