Trial of Mubarak and sons adjourned to 25 August
Published in Ahram Online on 17 - 08 - 2013

Ousted president Hosni Mubarak, his two sons and former interior minister Habib El-Adly are 'no-shows' on their court date facing charges of complicity in the killing of 800 protesters in the January 2011 uprising
The North Cairo court has adjourned the trial of ousted president Hosni Mubarak and his two sons, Gamal and Alaa, as well as his interior minister, Habib El-Adly and his six aides to 25 August after the accused failed to show up.
A security source told Al-Ahram Arabic news site that the accused could not be present at the court because of security reasons.
Nationwide clashes have been ongoing between supporters and opponents of ousted president Mohamed Morsi as well as with police since Friday. Many roads have been blocked due to the violent confrontations. Several government buildings, police and fire stations and churches have also come under attack.
Mubarak et al face charges of complicity in the killing of over 800 protesters in the January 2011 uprising.
In June 2012, Mubarak and El-Adly were sentenced to life in prison for the killings, but in January 2013 a retrial was ordered due to "procedural failings" in the original trial. The six security officers were all acquitted.
