“Things are not so bad; they have allowed monitors and candidate representatives in some voting stations, but not in others,” said Mohamed Abdel-Aal, a sympathiser of the Muslim Brotherhood candidate for the Alexandria Mina Al-Bassal district. Speaking to Ahram Online by phone from Alexandria, Abdel-Aal said that Hassan “is not facing serious problems —so far”. He added that Hassan has been allowed to tour his district and communicate with his constituency “without serious security intervention or harassment”. According to Abdel-Aal, however, the women's quota candidate of the Muslim Brotherhood, Boshra Al-Semni, is facing “some hurdles”. “She cannot do her tours comfortably.” Abdel-Aal alleged that the support team of Al-Semni has “material evidence of rigging”. “We found people outside of the voting stations distributing voting notes that should not be available outside the station. We put our hands on some of these notes and we will see what we will do with them,” he added.
