6 killed, 215 injured in clashes nationwide in 'no terrorism' protests

Six people were killed on Friday in clashes between supporters and opponents of deposed president Mohamed Morsi in the coastal city of Alexandria, said head of Egypt's Ambulance Authority Mohamed Sultan.
In addition, 215 people were injured in clashes nationwide including Cairo and the governorates of Damietta, Gharbiya, Sharqiya in the Nile Delta.
By midnight, Sultan said that 45 people have been released from hospital so far while 170 others are still receiving medical care. He added that 61 people were injured by birdshot.
Clashes in Alexandria, Egypt's second-largest city, reportedly broke out in Mahatet Al-Raml district after pro-military protesters who were marching against “terrorism” passed near a demonstration by supporters of Morsi at Al-Qaed Ibrahim Mosque.
According to Ahram's Arabic news website, security forces fired teargas in the vicinity of the clashes to disperse protesters.
A 14-year-old boy was among those killed. According to Al-Ahram Arabic news website the boy was stabbed with a bladed weapon in his stomach.
Rival mass rallies are taking place in a number of locations in Egypt on Friday.
Army chief Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Wednesday called on Egyptians to protest in order to give the military a "mandate" to confront “violence and terrorism” triggered by Morsi's overthrow.
Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood, meanwhile, had called for demonstrations on Friday to demand the reinstatement of the Islamist president, ousted on 3 July by the military after mass protests against his rule.
