Director Tahani Rached will be present at the screening of her film Four Women of Egypt on 26 June at Darb 1718 culture centre. The screening is part of the Cinema El Fourn activities, an outdoor cinema at the Darb 1718 premises that showcases independent films from Egypt and around the world. Darb collaborates with MAD Solutions, a Cairo-based company that specialises in public relations and marketing for the film and the entertainment industry. Four Women of Egypt (1997) is a documentary that retells the story of friendship between four Egyptian women of different political and religious affiliations. The four women are prominent names on the scene of women activism in Egypt. Although their opinions collide, Amina Rached, Safynaz Kazem, Shahenda Mekled and Wedad Mitry accept their differences - a process they say strengthens their friendship. Tahani Rached is an Egyptian filmmaker known for tackling sensitive societal issues. She's also headed the documentary of street girls, El Banat Dol (Those Girls, 2007) and Soraida: Woman of Palestine (2004). Programme: Wednesday 26 June, 8:30pm Darb 1718 Contemporary Art and Culture Center, Kasr El-Shamee' Street, El-Fakhareen – Old Cairo (Behind the Hanging Church and Amr Ibn Al-As Mosque) http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/74840.aspx
