Egypt's aviation minister dismisses Cairo Airport workers on strike

Fifteen workers are dismissed and 30 referred to public prosecution for their role in a strike Egypt's civil aviation ministry says endangered airline passengers and disrupted operations at Cairo Airport
Egypt's minister of civil aviation ordered Wednesday the dismissal of 15 workers of Cairo Airport Company that participated in an earlier strike demanding better financial conditions, the state-owned MENA news agency has reported.
Wael El-Maadawy accused the striking workers on the landing strip of Cairo International Airport's Terminal 3 of instigation and disrupting work operations.
The minister also referred 30 workers — were also on the strike — to the public prosecution to be questioned on the protest and its negative impact on the security and safety of airline passengers.
The 30 workers will be blocked from working until the public prosecution finishes its investigations.
Earlier Wednesday, Egypt's national carrier, EgyptAir, switched its flights from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 at Cairo International Airport after 120 service workers gathered at the landing strip of Terminal 3 to demand better financial conditions.
