Ismaily's rookie coach Wahba to step down after one month in charge
Mohamed Wahba says he will resign as Ismaily coach following the upcoming two games in the Egypt Cup and African Confederation Cup
Published in Ahram Online on 29 - 05 - 2013

Ismaily's coach Mohamed Wahba said he will step down after just one month in charge, plunging the club into more troubles as it struggles to overcome a financial crisis.
The Dervishes, Egypt's third most successful club after Cairo giants Ahly and Zamalek, dismissed Sabri Al-Menyawi and brought in rookie coach Wahba as a replacement on 4 May.
Under his guidance, Ismaily qualified for the final phase of the Egyptian Premier League but suffered a stunning 3-0 defeat at Tunisia's Bizertin in the last-16 round of the African Confederation Cup, the continent's secondary club competition.
"I will hand in my resignation after our games against Al-Wasti in the Egypt Cup and the return leg against Bizertin in the Confederation Cup," Wahba told a news conference on Wednesday.
"We faced many problems before the Bizertin game, including many injuries. We mainly relied on youngsters during the past few games because we wanted them to take a leading role in the near future."
Ismaily host Bizertin on 2 June before taking on lower division side Al-Wasti in the Egypt Cup round of 32 four days later, after which Wahba will depart.
Wahba did not disclose why exactly he had decided to leave but media reports suggested that he was frustrated because of the ongoing financial woes.
Most of the Egyptian government-owned clubs are struggling to stay afloat following the lengthy football stoppage that lasted from February 2012 to February 2013, depriving the teams of television revenue, which is their main source of income.
