Ismaily on brink of Confederation Cup elimination after 3-0 loss The Egyptian side slump to a 3-0 away defeat by Tunisia's Bizertin in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup round of 16
Ismaily, one of two Egyptian representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, are on the verge of an early elimination after suffering a 3-0 defeat at Tunisia's Bizertin in the first-leg of the competition's round of 16 on Sunday. The Dervishes were totally outplayed by Bizertin, who were knocked out of the African Champions League at the hands of Egyptian giants Ahly. Kamel Zeaiem put Bizertin in front when he drove a free kick through the Ismaily wall and into the net seven minutes before the break. Ali Machani added the second on 62 minutes after heading home a corner before Arbi Jabeur completed the rout in stoppage time. Ismaily, who recently dismissed coach Sabri Al-Menyawi and brought rookie Mohamed Wahba as his replacement, will need to overturn the three-goal deficit in the second leg in a fortnight if they are to advance to the group stage. ENPPI, the other Egyptian representative in Africa's secondary club competition, are also facing the prospect of an early elimination after losing to Ethiopia's Saint George 2-0 in Addis Ababa earlier in the day.
