Ahly's Soliman accuses Egypt coach Bradley of favouritism The Ahly winger says the selections of Egypt coach Bob Bradley are not purely based on footballing reasons
Ahly winger Walid Soliman hit out at Egypt coach Bob Bradley for declining to name him in the team's provisional squad for next month's World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Soliman has been one of Ahly's most impressive performers since recovering from a knee injury last month but was he was left out of the 30-man roster announced by Bradley on Tuesday. "Bradley has favoured certain players when naming the squad, which included players who have not been playing regularly with their teams lately," Soliman was quoted as saying by Ahram's Arabic sports website. "Joining the national team now only depends on the personal relationships [between Bradley and the players]." The 28-year-old is lauded for his penetrating runs down the flanks and accurate shots. He helped Ahly to a late 2-1 comeback victory over ENPPI in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday after levelling the score with four minutes remaining, thanks to a superb first-time low shot. Egypt will face Botswana in a friendly game on Tuesday before flying to Zimbabwe for a World Cup qualifying Group G game on 9 June. The Pharaohs will also face Mozambique away from home seven days later. The seven-time African champions are on top of the group with nine points, five ahead of second-placed Guinea and seven clear of Mozambique with three matches remaining. Zimbabwe lie at the bottom with a solitary point. The winners of the 10 groups will advance to a two-legged playoff to determine Africa's five representatives at next year's World Cup in Brazil.
