The first week of December is something of Egypt's Oscar academy awards - a week of film-centred festivities. On Saturday 4 December the Goethe Institute launches its second Arab Shorts Festival for the year 2010. The festival, which continues until 6 December, will host diverse screenings selected by five Arab curators: Emad Mabrouk (Egypt), Ala Younis (Jordan), Ikbal Zalila (Tunisia), Abir Boukhari (Syria) and Toni Serra aka Abu Ali (Morocco). All screenings will be held at the Goethe Institute downtown. The Arab Shorts coincides with the Cairo International Film Festival, which will take place from 30 November to 9 December.
