VIDEO: Abou-Treika's 95th min goal lifts UAE's Bani Yas to final A 95th-minute strike by the veteran Egyptian playmaker helps Emirati club Bani Yas reach the GCC Champions League final
Egypt's Mohamed Abou-Treika scored at the death to give UAE side Bani Yas a 2-0 victory over Saudi Arabia's Najran that lifted them to the final of the GCC Champions League on Wednesday. The match was heading to extra time with the aggregate score 1-1 when Abou-Treika netted home following a brilliant individual effort. Five minutes into stoppage time, he turned his marker inside out in the area before placing a precise low shot into the bottom corner to hand his side a precious victory. The 34-year-old, who is widely regarded as one of Egypt's best-ever footballers, has taken his tally to four goals with Bani Yas since joining from Cairo giants Ahly on a six-month loan deal in January. Bani Yas coach Jozef Chovanec said he recently he wished to extend the stay of Abou-Treika beyond the end of the season.
