Cairo Opera House to host Al-Aswany 'The Cars Club' book signing Alaa Al-Aswany will be signing his latest novel 'The Cars Club' on Friday at Cairo Opera House
Famous writer and novelist, Alaa Al-Aswany, will be signing his latest novel Nady Alsayarat (The Cars Club) on Friday, 12 April at the Open Hall of Cairo Opera House in Zamalek with participation of film star, Youssra, who will be reading excerpts of the new novel. Shorouk Publishing House released the 600-page novel this week as Al-Aswany's biggest hit since his last novel Chicago. Al-Aswany started writing this novel in 2008 and stopped writing during 2011 when the Egyptian revolution broke out, which he supported and engaged in. After visiting a famous car club in German and learnt the story of invention of the world's first car, Al-Aswany decided to put that story in the framework of a novel, exceeding the limits of reality. Alaa Al-Aswany is best known for his internationally renowned novel Imarat Yaqubian (The Yacoubian Building) 2002. His books have been translated into English, French, Spanish and German among other languages. Al-Aswany is the founding member of the Kefaya (Enough) protest movement and was once included in Jordanian Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre's list of the top 500most influential Muslims in the world. Programme: Friday, 12 April at 7pm Open Hall, Cairo Opera House, Zamalek http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/68897.aspx
