VIDEO: Egyptians call for interfaith unity on protest march to Coptic cathedral Following recent sectarian clashes and violence at St. Mark's cathedral, hundreds march calling for unity between Egypt's Muslims and Christians
Hundreds of Egyptians march from the Fath Mosque in Ramses to St. Mark's Coptic Cathedral in Abasiya to protest against an attack at the Christian place of worship earlier in the week. On Sunday 7th April the Cathedral held a funeral for four victims of sectarian fighting in El Khosoos, north of Cairo.Protesters on Tuesday's march said the funeral was attacked, and clashes soon ensued. Satellite TV footage shows police firing tear gas towards the Cathedral surrounded by civilians throwing rocks. Marchers from both faiths said they rejected attempts to divide Muslim and Christians.
