Gunmen fired on a ministerial convoy in Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli on Friday, a Reuters witness said, injuring at least four people and riddling a security patrol car with bullets. The attack did not appear to hit the Minister of Sports and Youth Faisal Karami, medics said. However, Karami told the Lebanese Alakhbar newspaper that he survived "an assassination attempt", accusing Islamist protesters of firing his convoy. "I can't imagine that this was anything other than an assassination attempt," AlAkhbar quoted Karami's quote given to Al-Jadeed TV.
