Investigators decode Badrashin train black box Giza prosecutors await results from a team of expert mechanics decodomg the black box retreived from Monday's Badrashin train accident
Investigations in the Badrashin train accident have continued for a second day after prosecution officials were able to retrieve the train's black box. A committee of expert mechanics were given the event recorder on Thursday to ascertain how the train derailed before killing 19 people and injuring 120 others earlier in the week. The device records data about the operation of train controls and performance in response to those controls and other train control systems. The Giza prosecution office also ordered to question three of the railway controllers at the Badrashin station in Giza where the accident took place Monday night. Train controllers are responsible for detecting technical difficulties and advising train drivers on their movements as needed. An official investigation into Monday's train crash is being spearheaded by Ahmed El-Bahrawy from the Giza prosecution office. Prosecutors ordered the detention of the train driver on Tuesday to fifteen days pending further investigation on accusation of "unintended murder." http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/62688.aspx
