Art Alert: El-Sakia String Orchestra to perform Mozart
On Tuesday, 15 January, El-Sakia String Orchestra, conducted by Mohamed Saad Basha, will perform in concert dedicated to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Published in Ahram Online on 13 - 01 - 2013

El-Sakia String Orchestra's 15 January concert will include works composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Divertimento No 11, K 251; Violin Concerto No 3, K 216 and Symphony No 28, K 200.
The orchestra will be conducted by it's founder and principal conductor, Mohamed Saad Basha, and the soloist of the evening will be Hassan Sharara on violin.
El-Sakia String Orchestra was formed in October 2010 with the aim of promoting classical music through El-Sawy Culturewheel, a centre that mainly offers pop and rock concerts to young audiences. Through the string orchestra's activities, young people gain easy access to classical music and its values.
Since its formation, the orchestra gives one concert a month, on every third Tuesday of the month.
Many Egyptian musicians join the orchestra as soloists. Last December, singers Nesma Mahgoub and Ahmed Harfoush performed Christmas works with the orchestra. Other soloists in past months include: Sherif El-Razzaz on clarinet, Manal Mohie Eldin on harp, Ines Abdel Dayem on flute, Alaa Abdalla on cello, Khaled El-Shwekh on violin, among others.
Programme:
Tuesday, 15 January, 8pm
El-Sawy Culturewheel, Wisdom Hall
Under the 15 May Bridge on 26 of July Street, Zamalek
