Constitution Party to hold anti-Morsi marches to palace on Wednesday
Published in Ahram Online on 05 - 12 - 2012

The Freedom and Justice Party are also planning to hold demonstrations in support of the constitution and President Morsi at the presidential palace in Heliopolis on Wednesday evening
The Constitution Party is organising four marches to the presidential palace on Wednesday, to demand the overturning of President Morsi's recent constitutional declaration, to reject the current draft constitution, and to demand the formulation of a "more reflective" Constituent Assembly.
The marches are also intended to support the small group of protesters who have been staging a sit-in outside the palace since late on Tuesday, when hundreds of thousands of protesters gathered at the presidential headquarters in Cairo's Heliopolis.
Two marches will depart from the suburb of New Cairo, leaving at 5pm and 8pm. Another march will leave from Rabaa Al-Adaweiya Mosque in Madinet Nasr at 5pm. A fourth meeting point will be at Hegaz Square in Heliopolis at 5pm.
The Constitution Party was recent founded by prominent liberal figure Mohamed ElBaradei.
A leading Freedom and Justice Party member told Ahram Online on Wednesday that the group and its Islamistallies are to hold "massive" demonstrations in support of the president in front of the presidential palace in Cairo's Heliopolis district at 4pm on Wednesday. This was later confirmed by official Brotherhood spokesman Mahmoud Ghozlan.
A coalition of Islamist groups issued a statement on Tuesday condemning anti-Morsi protests outside at the presidential palace in Cairo. It accused the protesters of using violence and "sabotaging" the country.
Egypt's interior minister released a statement late on Tuesday thanking protesters for keeping their protest peaceful and for not attempting to enter the palace after the security forces had withdrawn.
