Canceling Egyptian league is a disaster, says Zamalek official Zamalek official website published statement of the football administrative manager regarding league suspension
Zamalek football team administrative manager Hamada Anwar said that canceling the Egyptian League season is like “a disaster” that would heavily hit all clubs. “League cancelation is a disaster for Egyptian football. The competition must be held in order to avoid more financial crises for the clubs,” Anwar was quoted as saying on the club's official website. The Egyptian league was suspended since 1 February when 72 Ahly fans died in attacks, allegedly by the opposing fans, during a match in Port Said stadium. Ahly fans vowed to ruin any domestic match held before the lawsuit resolved. “Beside clubs, national team will be badly affected by the championship stoppage. It's so important for all parties and we must work together hand in hand to reschedule it during the tight period remaining,” he added. The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) board members are in continued meeting to study all matters regarding the league resumption.
