Ahly will return from Tunisia with the African cup, says Geddo The Egyptian giants see it as an imperative to win the CAF Champions League trophy when they visit Tunisian Esperance
Ahly striker Mohamed Nagi "Geddo" expresses his determination to clinch the CAF Champions League title from Esperance of Tunisia when they meet in the second leg in Rades on Saturday. "The African final will not be easy but all my teammates are determined to return back from Tunisia with the African Cup," Geddo was quoted as saying Monday on the club's official website. The Red Devils were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Esperance in the first leg, a result which makes the Tunisian defending champions favourites to retain their title. The Cairo giants were knocked out of the Champions League semis at the hands of Esperance in 2010 via a controversial second-leg goal from Nigerian striker Michael Eneramo. Esperance also eliminated Ahly from the group stage last year when the Cairo giants were managed by highly-successful Portuguese manager Manuel Jose. Ahly are eyeing a record-extending seventh continental title while Esperance are looking to lift the trophy for the second time in a row and third overall. "We will get the title and dedicate the trophy to the Port Said martyrs," he added, referring to a match in February in Port Said stadium that turned chaotic and deadly as allegedly men allegedly from the opposing team stormed the pitch and attacked Ahly fans. Seventy-four were killed, scores injured and this incident put a halt to Egyptian league football.
