Egypt's Ahly face goalkeeping crisis ahead of Esperance clash Scans will determine status of injury and whether Red Devils' goalkeeping duo will be ready for Tunisia's Esperance
Egypt's Ahly preparations for Sunday's anticipated game with Tunisia's Esperance were dealt a major blow as both goalkeepers Sheriff Ekramy and Mahmoud Abou El-Saoud were injured during Tuesday's training session. "Ekramy's knee swelled up in today's morning training session. He will undergo further scans tomorrow to determine his condition but I am optimistic he will be fit for the match," Ahly's doctor Ihab Aly told the club's official website. "Abou El-Saoud [goalie] left the session after spraining his finger. We prefer not to put him at risk and to check into the matter tomorrow," the doctor added. The Red Devils beat Wadi Degal 2-1 in a friendly on Monday night amid their preparations for hosting the Tunisian giants in the first leg of the African Champions League final at Alexandria's Borg Al-Arab Stadium. The second leg will be held in Tunisia 18 November. Ahly are currently eyeing their first continental triumph since 2008, while Esperance are hoping to clinch a second consecutive Champions League title. Ahly reached the final after a 4-3 aggregate victory over Nigerian guests Sunshine Stars. Title-holders Esperance secured their place in the final after eliminating formidable Congolese side Mazembe.
