Ahly players out of Egypt friendly against Georgia Ahly asks Egypt team coach not to use Ahly players in the upcoming Georgia friendly, to avoid injuries before the Champions League final
Ahly football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz revealed that he has asked Egypt national coach Bob Bradley to keep the Reds' international players from playing in the friendly against Georgia on 14 November. The Cairo giants are scheduled to face Tunisian side Esperance in the second leg of the final round of the CAF Champions League on 17 November, three days after the Georgia friendly. The Red Devils' midfielder Hossam Ashour will be sidelined from Monday's trainings because of a knee injury. "Ashour will be rested for one day and he will be fit for Esperance game," Ahly doctor was quoted as saying on the club's official website. "The midfielder will be out of Wadi Degla friendly, as the technical staff are worried about increasing his injury ahead of the Champions League final," the doctor added. Six-time African champions Ahly are currently preparing to host the Tunisian giants in the first leg of the African Champions League final at Alexandria's Borg Al-Arab Stadium on 4 November. Ahly reached the final after a 4-3 aggregate victory over Nigerian guests Sunshine Stars. Title-holders Esperance secured their place in the final after eliminating formidable Congolese side Mazembe.
