Algeria look to strengthen squad with French-born players Algeria's technical staff are looking for new blood to revive the team for the World Cup qualifiers and next year's African Cup of Nations
After reaching an agreement with Parma striker Ishak Belfodilto that he will play for the Algerian national team, coach Vahid Halilhodzic is looking to convince more French-born players to play for Algeria. Reims' fullback Aissa Mandi is the first target of Halilhodzic, who aims to convince the 21-year-old player to wear the shirt of Algeria. Mandi produced a string of sufficient performances with Reims this season as he played seven of nine league's games. Granada's midfielder Yacine Brahimi and Saint-Etienne's left back Faouzi Ghoulam who were eliminated with the French youth team from the 2013 euro qualifiers are also in Halilhodzic's radar. Algeria are looking to strength their squad before the next year's African Cup of Nations and the 2014 World Cup African qualifiers. Algeria, which was one of the African representatives in the 2010 World Cup, are second in Group H with 3 points, only one point behind leaders Benin.
