Squash: Ashour reaches US open final In the men's contest, Ramy Ashour reaches the Squash US open final while compatriot Raneem El-Weleily follows suit in the women's contest
Egypt's Ramy Ashour reached the Squash US open final after beating Englishman Nick Matthew 3-1 in 74 minutes. The world no. 4 won the first game 15-13 but Matthew had the upper hand in the second, winning 11-8. However, Ashour won the remaining two games 11-8 and 11-4 to settle the tie in his favour and set up a final against Gregory Gaultier of France. “I'm happy with how I played tonight. I didn't make the mistake I made yesterday of concentrating on what my opponent was doing,” Ashour, who narrowly overcame Peter Barker in the quarter-finals, was quoted as saying by Squash site. “It's always about how I deal with it mentally, and I was happy with that too tonight. I'll need to make sure I can recover and be at 100% tomorrow, Greg looks to be on top form.” In the women's contest, El-Weleily reached the final following a 3-2 win over Laura Massaro of England.
