Ghana FA deny Gyan captaincy rumours Asamoah Gyan will not be offered the captain's armband as reported in some media outlets, say Ghana Football Association
John Mensah will remain captain of the Ghana national team, the country's FA said Thursday, following media reports Al-Ain striker Asamoah Gyan would be offered the role. "We want to assure Ghanaians that the report which has been carried on various media platforms is inaccurate," the GFA said in a statement. "John Mensah is still the captain of the Black Stars and Michael Essien remains the deputy captain of the team," it added. "We want to assure Ghanaians that there is no agitation from the management team or the coaching staff for the change of this order. "The GFA will not depart from the team's policy of using the squad's most experienced player to captain the team at any given time," the statement concluded.
