Sufi jazz concerts by Eftekasat band hit Egypt
A series of concerts by the world music band Eftekasat will incorporate Sufi chants and jazz riffs, starting 13 August

Starting Monday, 13 August, the Eftekasat world jazz band will hold its fifthSufi jazz concert series in collaboration with Moroccan singers and instrumentalists Hicham Bajjou and Mehdi Nassouli.
The series will be held in Alexandria and Cairo and will be ongoing until 17 August.
Eftekasat's blending of Sufi and jazz music finds its origin in 2007 when the Sufi chanter Sheikh Ahmed Hassan joined the band. On their 2009 Jordan tour, they were joined by Jordanian vocalist Ruba Sakr.
Eftekasat's music fits comfortably in the world music genre, as its mix of Western and Eastern instruments allows the band to blend Latin, Arabic, Greek and Balkan tunes. Eftekasatwas formed in 2002 and has thus far released two albums: Moulid Sidi El-Latini and Dandasha.
