Egypt's cabinet members to be unveiled next week: Presidential spokesman Egypt's new PM meets five nominees for health, higher education, communications portfolios, along with newly-created ministry devoted to drainage and potable water
Yasser Ali, spokesman for Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, announced on Wednesday that members Egypt's new cabinet would be unveiled by the middle of next week. He went on to dismiss recent allegations that Morsi planned to appoint a presidential chief-of-staff. Also on Wednesday, newly-appointed Prime Minister Hisham Kandil met with five nominees for various ministerial portfolios. These included: - Atef Radwan, dean of medicine at Zagazig University, who has been nominated for the post of health minister; -Tarek Wafik, urban planningprofessor atCairo University, nominated to head up anewministry devoted to drainage infrastructure and potable water; - Mohamed Rashad, engineering professor at Cairo University (specialising in roads and bridges), nominated for the post of communications minister; - Mohamed Hazem Mohamed, professor of electronic engineering atCairo University, also nominated for the post of communications minister; and - Mostafa Mosad, a coordinatorof Morsi's presidential campaign, nominated for the post of higher education minister. On Tuesday, Morsi appointed Kandil to Egypt's premiership in a move that surprised many observers. Kandil had previously served as minister of irrigation and water resources in the post-revolution governments of Essam Sharaf and Kamal El-Ganzouri.
