Abul-Fotouh travels to Saudi Arabia in a private visit Former presidential candidate Abdel-Moneim Abul-Fotouh visits the gulf country as Egyptian media speculate whether he will be made Morsi's vice president
Ex-Muslim Brotherhood leader and former presidential contender Abdel-Moneim Abul-Fotouh, travelled to Saudi Arabia in a private visit on Thursday morning. The details of his travel plans have yet to be confirmed. The gulf visit comes amidst much media speculation that Abul-Fotouh, who was ejected from the Brotherhood for running for presidency, will be made vice president, allegations that both he and President Mohamed Morsi have so far denied. Abul-Fotouh's campaign spokeswoman Doaa Fattouh told Ahram Online Monday that the moderate-Islamist politician is expected to launch a new political party called the 'Strong Egypt Party,' in the next few days. The new party is expected to offer the same political programme as Abul-Fotouh's recent presidential campaign. In the run-up to last month's presidential elections runoff vote, Abul-Fotouh declared his support for the Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Morsi against Hosni Mubarak's last prime minister Ahmed Shafiq. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/46934.aspx
