Boateng defends choice to play for Ghana
Ghanaian midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng says he has no regrets over preferring to play for the Ghanaian national team

AC Milan Ghanaian's midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng said on Tuesday that he does not regret choosing to play for Ghana rather than Germany.
Boateng's brother Jerome has opted to play for Germany, and is excelling with them in the ongoing Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. Germany will face Italy in the semi-final as they seek to win the tournament for the first time since 1996.
Both brothers had the option to choose where they play, as they were born in Germany to a Ghanaian father and a German mother.
The Milan midfielder preferred Ghana, while his brother opted to represent the Mannschaft.
"The Chancellor had invited me to have a cup of tea with her, but I had gone on vacation and could not accept," Kevin-Prince Boateng was quoted as saying by Football Italia.
"I preferred to accept the offer to play for Ghana, rejecting the German shirt. Jerome, however, remained loyal to Germany.
"Even if I were able to go back, I would take that same choice. Maybe the Chancellor wanted to ask just that, to return to play for the German team. But no, it's too late, there's no turning back.
"Every day I was forced to contend with gypsies, Romanians, Arabs, Croats, Russians, Albanians and people of a callous way.
"I had two options - either become a delinquent, or try to play football. I chose the latter option and it has gone well for me."
Boateng, who played for Germany's youth teams, made his Ghana debut in a friendly game against Latvia on 5 June 2010.
However, the 25-year-old announced his retirement from international football in November last year, saying that he was physically torn between club and national team commitments.
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah said earlier this year he was aiming to pressure Boateng into changing his mind. However, his efforts are yet to bear fruit.
